Though pervasive storm clouds threatened throughout the day, last Saturday night's "Get Lit" benefit for the Neon Museum went forward unsoaked. As expected, several hundred of the city's illuminated patrons and hipsters eased into an oversized private corral on the Fremont Street Experience, onlookers peering over the fence to catch a glimpse of the culturati. Bartenders provided internal warmth while free pocketwarmers kept handshakers at the ready. Meanwhile, smiling showgirls, undaunted by the chilly air and a distinct lack of cover, greeted guests and cheerily posed for photos against the backdrop of some of the city's most spectacular neon. After the liquor-fueled schmooze session subsided, the cast of the Sahara's campy The Rat Pack Is Back (737-2515) performed on the Experience's sparkly new stage while guests were afforded the simple sophistication of a meal catered by Green Valley's Wild Sage Cafe (600 E. Warm Springs Road; 944-7243). If you haven't driven the distance to Wild Sage, the Spago-esque food in the unpretentious joint is well worth the excursion into the endless mindless suburbs.
